What is “To read”?
For us human beings, what is the major source of learning? The answer is fairly obvious, to read. Be it the Bible or the verses from other holy scripts, people have learned by reading. The ancient artifacts and monuments show us that how people have written, drawn, and/or crafted a great piece of meaningful art. The symbolic representation of different objects on the walls inside the pyramids, the written scripts on the cloth parchments obtained from the remnants of ancient Greek, Roman, Chinese and Japanese cultures verify the fact that Reading and writing was the main practice for learning at that time as well.
In this 21st century, the methodology is the same but the written mediums and tools of writing may vary. The latest technology which can write on the computer screen, the words you are saying. You can download e-books and read them on your smartphones’ screens. The point to be made here is learning comes with input. The input here in the learning process is the readable mediums and the output is the concept you have learned from those readings.
Why read?
The development of ideas has taken mankind to the next level of everything. There is science and chemistry behind everything that exists in this universe. Visual observation is another way of reading like the humans do face reading or expressions reading of each other and conclude in their minds. For instance, a pale face and widened eye pupils express fear, and your tightly clenched jaws and grimace on your face can be perceived as maybe you are angry. Thus it can be truly stated that to learn you must read.
An artist observes the natural beauty by reading and absorbing it through his eyes and put it on the canvas in the form of his creativity. His idea has led him to creativity and reading nature is a direct input to enrich his concepts and ideas. Similarly, a chemist observes and reads the reactions by mixing different fluids altogether and he might end up inventing a new compound or discovering new medicine. But before doing such activities he must have read a ton of pages of different books to formulate a new invention or maybe his findings from those books had led him to discover a new way to cure in the form of medicine.

Quite so often, reading a book on the subject of your interest could be a hobby for you. Reading comedy literature, reading jokes, or funny content can bring joy to your life and might be a source of entertainment for you. Just like the kids enjoy most of the time the comic books. Teenagers might enjoy reading a fashion magazine. The prose and the poetry are different niches of written material and could be read differently. Either it is prose or poetry, it doesn’t mean that it must be meaningful, must give you a lesson, or teach you some morals and ethics. There is a lot of content that exists in the form of prose and poetry which has no meaning but the reason behind its existence is simply to have fun with it.
Do you think reading might heal you?
Religious preachers, scholars, and motivational speakers publish books on different topics. To guide you to the righteous path (as they claim so), to heal your soul, and sometimes the books filled with different sorts of prayers that might bring you closer to God. I believe that reading can heal up your soul. It could be the Holy Quran; it could be “Chicken soup for the soul” by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen it can be other religious or motivational books.
