I planned a two-day road trip to Islamabad. Well, Islamabad is a city where several places are worth visiting. But I had only two days to visit some of these beautiful places with my family.
So, the journey started early in the morning. My mother packed some essential food items for breakfast, and we left our home (in Lahore) at sharp 8:00 am. My father was driving, and my siblings were sleeping in the car. However, I was excited enough to see the leaves dancing in the morning breeze. We always prefer to travel in the morning as you get a chance to experience the scenic beauty and charming scenery on the highway in the morning.
After a 3hours journey, we stopped at Kallar Kahar to fresh up our minds and have some breakfast. Kallar Kahar provides you with a charming and breathtaking lake view. We sat there for half an hour, enjoyed the beauty of the place, and had some breakfast.
If you ever plan a road trip from Lahore to Islamabad, make sure to make a stay at Kallar Kahar for an hour. Sitting there and looking at the calm surface of the lake gives you a peaceful feeling. This place provided us with a whole exquisite vibe.
So, we continued our journey and reached Islamabad at 2:30 pm. As it was a family trip, we landed at our relative’s home. Since we had to visit many places, we made sure not to waste our time. We had some rest to recharge ourselves and woke up at 4:00 pm. And then we were ready to explore the beauty of Islamabad.
First we went to Faisal Masjid. I always wanted to see this place, and this was the first time I was visiting it. So, I was overjoyed and overwhelmed to enter the mosque. However, it was crowded with tourists and local people. But the architecture of the mosque is not less than a masterpiece. Make sure to visit this place whenever you go to Islamabad. You will have a sensational experience particularly if you love to explore historic places.
After spending about 2 hours in the mosque, we went to the Rawal dam lake-view park of Islamabad. We enjoyed boating and the beautiful views were also worth watching in the evening. The park is best known for its beauty and elegance. Since I was with my family and cousins, I enjoyed this a lot at this recreational park.
After boating, my cousin brought dinner and we ate in the fresh air at this beautiful park. All of us enjoyed the day and made unforgettable memories. I found myself completely lost in this charming city.
After having dinner, we went home and fell asleep as we all were tired. The next day, we woke up, had some breakfast, and planned to go to the mountains.
There is a famous restaurant Monal in Islamabad. We headed towards Monal and the journey was quite adventurous. The route to Monal includes some steep roads in the mountains and some sharp curves and turns. I felt as if I was on an adventure. Well, we experienced the beauty of mountains from Islamabad to Monal. Here is a picture that depicts the path to Monal.
And the best view comes after the hardest climb
When we reached there, the view was spectacular and attractive enough to capture all our attention. Imagine sitting in mountains, having your meal followed by a cup of tea. I have visited many restaurants in Lahore, but this experience was entirely different. The charm, the beauty, the vibe, everything was worth remembering. It was like discovering nature along with having a delicious meal. It reminded me of a beautiful saying of Maxime Legace.
“By discovering nature, you discover yourself”
After spending some quality time at Monal, having lunch and tea, we aimed at coming back home. But wait. On our way back, we suddenly planned to visit Daman-e-Koh. Daman-e-Koh is on the way to Monal. So, here you go with a pro tip. Whenever you plan to visit Monal in Islamabad, spare some time to pay a visit to Daman-e-Koh especially in the evening.
As the name suggests, Daman-e-Koh is a picnic spot made in the center (Daman) of mountains (Koh). In the evening, this place provides you with a view of the whole Islamabad city accompanied by beautiful lights. This tourist spot is just like heaven on Earth. You may have heard the quote by Anita Diamant
“Mountains are where heaven meets the Earth”.
And Daman-e-Koh is the best place to experience the live example of this quote.
We spent a lot of time at this heavenly place and then we came back home. And here our two-day trip came to an end. The next morning we woke up, loaded our car with luggage, and started our journey back home. On our way back, we stopped at Bhera, which is a famous stay point between Islamabad and Lahore. At Bhera, there were many restaurants to have lunch. We went to Fri Chicks and ordered a cheesy pizza with some chicken wings.
We enjoyed the meal but deep down in my heart, I was quite saddened to leave behind that beautiful place. However, to every beginning, there is an end. Therefore, this trip had to come to an end. But the everlasting memories I made on this trip will always remain in my heart.
This trip to Islamabad was full of memories. Neither I did any shopping, nor did I go to the cinema to watch a movie. It was all about making memories with the scenic and charming beauty of mountains and lush green trees. I aimed at capturing as much beauty of nature in my eyes and heart as I could.
Islamabad is full of lovely scenes and you will find nature in its full swing. You will fall in love with this city once you plan a trip to Islamabad.
