Blogging has been one of the best sources of passive income. Blogs can make webmasters earn money in multiple ways.
For instance, they can earn money through AdSense Ads, Sponsored Ads, Guest Posts, etc. But, this requires a good amount of traffic to the blog.
However, with the introduction of AI Chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Bard, the landscape has completely changed for bloggers.
AI is very much capable of providing straight-to-the-point answers in an interactive fashion. Thus, one hardly finds any need or motivation to use Search Engines like Google, Bing, etc. to find answers.
With the easy availability and commonplace use of AI, people usually prefer to search their queries in Chatbots. This has, in fact, raised many questions.
Social Media is particularly flooded with the questions like; Are SEO Content Writing and Blogging still relevant? Will the writers still be able to earn money via blogs? Will ChatGPT kill Google?
Well, these are legit questions and one cannot be so sure how things will unfold in the future. However, there are still some valid reasons to believe that blogging will survive and still be profitable.
Let us now discuss those reasons.
Reasons why Blogging is still Profitable Even After AI ChatBots
AI bots like ChatGPT have their own advantages and usability but the matter of fact is they cannot replace blogging. Here is why;
-
Blogs are Trustworthy while AI cannot be Trusted
Blogs are usually written after in-depth study and research. So, the information provided in blogs is correct. On the other hand, one cannot always trust AI with the information it provides.
This claim can be corroborated by the fact that recently Sundar Pichai (the CEO at Google) has released a demo of how one can use Google Bard AI.
In the demo, he asked Google Bard Chatbot to explain the working of the James Webb Telescope so that the student in 9th grade can easily understand it.
Google Bard gave answers in bullet points and conversational style but committed a grave mistake in the answer. With this wrong answer, the parent company of Google Alphabet Inc. lost 7 % of its market value (100 Billion USD) instantly.
This clearly shows why we cannot blindly accept the answers by AI without crosschecking them. To verify the information, users would definitely require taking help from Search Engines like Google.
The Search Engines will definitely send that traffic to the blogs. Hence, blogging cannot be outdated even with the presence of AI chatbots.
-
AI will always depend on Blogs to absorb Information
AI bots are artificially intelligent. They absorb their intelligence from the ideas and information provided by us (humans) who are naturally intelligent.
Imagine we (the content creators) stop creating content, would AI bots still be able to provide up-to-date information? It is definitely a big NO!
Thus, it is safe to say that AI will never be able to replace blogging and SEO content writing in the future.
However, if we talk about organic traffic directly to our blogs, this is particularly concerning. Blogs require traffic to survive, while AI will attract all the traffic to itself.
If blogs would die so would the AI bots. In other words, blogs can survive without AI but AI cannot survive without blogs.
The developers of AI need to understand this and make policies so that blogs would still get their share of the traffic or credit for their efforts.
-
AI Chat Bots will require a Subscription
Currently, ChatGPT is in beta (testing) mode. So, it is available to the public for use in experimentation and responses. But, as they say, “there are no free lunches in the world”. This is equally true in the case of AI chatbots.
AI bots are not going to stay free to use. There will be a subscription cost associated with them and only subscribers will be able to benefit from them.
The reason to believe this is that AI developers have developed such chatbots after great investments. Of course, they did not invest their time, energy, and money to serve humanity for free.
Hence, it is obvious that not everyone will subscribe to these bots because their alternative Google or other search engines are always available for free.
Therefore, we can believe that blogging is still relevant and profitable.
-
ChatGPT has Limitations
ChatGPT has its own certain limitations. It generates the same responses time and again. On the other hand, blogs provide a 360-degree analysis and overview of a certain topic.
If you would search for some queries on Search Engines, you will find multiple different ideas and perspectives. This cannot be true in the case of AI chatbots.
Moreover, blogs are written after gaining deep knowledge, in-depth research, and first-hand experience. On the other hand, AI bots are insentient. Bots will reproduce what they have in their database.
So, their responses will always lack originality and diversity. Hence, blogs will always be preferred over AI chatbots.
-
AI will augment blogging rather than replace it
Last, but not least, bloggers can use AI Chatbots to their advantage in creating content. Writers can always use AI to enrich their content with different ideas.
So, in reality, AI is going to augment the blogging experience rather than replace it. AI will be used as a research tool by the content creators.
Concluding Thoughts
To conclude, although initially, AI might pose some challenges to human-generated content. It might seem that AI is going to replace blogging.
However, in reality, blogging is irreplaceable given the facts discussed above in the article.
So, what are your thoughts? Will AI Chatbots replace blogging and SEO content writing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
