“Baaji, your stop has come, please come down”
uttered the bus conductor while arriving at the Empress market bus stop in Karachi.
This was the third time I was visiting Sadar but I haven’t seen this Empress market side before, it was really impressive.
I found it to be the hub of everything from pine nuts to kitchen and home appliances, Saddar market catches my attention in terms of feasible shopping. The best thing is that the prices here aren’t layered under the branded tags so one can shop their dreams while keeping up their pockets.
So, first, we landed at the dry fruits local sellers and were surprised to hear the burgeoning prices of it. Since Saddar’s walnuts, pine nuts, and peanuts are the most authentic and popular ones so I can’t think of buying from any other place.
Luckily, the GNN network was also interviewing people about the surge in prices and I ended up giving one to them.
It was a short time in the Empress market but I really find some good accessories and grocery items from there.
But this side of the Saddar market which I’m sharing with you will leave you with joy.
Known as the International Bara market, it’s situated inside the Empress market and next to the local buses and car booking services.
Since I’ve been shopping goods from Imtiaz and metro store all the time, so as compared to them I felt like I can take the world from here in Rs, 10,000/- only.
From crockery to antique pieces or kitchen appliances, there’s almost everything you can uncover.
I bought this salt and pepper jar set for Rs,600/- only.
On roaming further, this Lala with the read beard captured my attention.
The lala above had beautiful pieces of ornaments and funky jewellery. If you’re a trendsetter in the realm of fashion, then must visit his stall in this Int Bara Market, you’re going to thank me later. This lala also have wooden jewellery boxes but since I was running out of time so I have to rush to the exit.
Check it below.
So, these were only a few stalls I captured during my visit. But you’d be surprised to know that I spent my 7 hours in this market and still I was feeling the urge to stay long because I was curious to explore more about it.
I bought this crochet jewellery box for Rs, 100/- only.
Dunya News has also covered this International Bara market of Saddar Karachi.
I also spotted some tourists from China and Japan who were roaming in the bazaar and getting influenced by the traditional goods of Pakistan. Some stalls were also having few books but I think they should also open a separate bookstall there, so readers can enjoy their reads at a low cost.
Despite all, I have an amazing time there and I urge you all to visit it once in your lifetime.
Pakistan is beautiful and I’ve been always inspired by its traditional and cultural beauty.
I would love to know your experience if you have ever visited this Int Bara market in Saddar.
I prefer books and diaries more than phones and Facebook. Soulfully connected to Pakistan. And I passionately believe that I can change the world through blogging.
