Pakistan thrives on its people more than the resources. In every challenging time, you’d see people stepping out of their homes to help others.
In the recent Covid19 crisis, many NGOs in Pakistan took the initiative to help people fight the pandemic by providing them food, jobs, shelter, medical aid, and much more. RRK Foundation is also one of those.
It was launched after the pandemic in 2020 by the famous Pakistani cricketer Rumman Raees Khan. Since he doesn’t have that much money at that time, he auctioned his favorite things like cricket accessories, T-shirts, and belts and spent that money in buying Ration bags for the needy.
He along with his team donated more than 15,000 ration bags to the deserving families in Karachi, Hyderabad, Balochistan, and Khanewal.
He didn’t stop there and expand his volunteer services to provide food, sanitisers, and masks to the security forces (Police and Rangers). And then he never stops.
From helping Thalassemia patients to installing water coolers in remote areas and contributing to upgrade the hospital services in Pakistan, he makes sure to touch as many sectors as he can.
In this Ramadan, he organized the biggest Suhoor and Iftari Dastarkhuwan in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi where he feeds more than 1000 people every day.
Not only the food plates, but the foundation also delivers meals at the door for those who can’t step out.
The best thing about this initiative is that he manages everything on his own. Instead of only helping with the money, you’d find him serving people himself. He prepares Iftaari and Suhoor plates and makes sure everyone on the Dasturkhuwan is being served to the fullest.
When asked about his career in sports, he answered:
“I’ve not taken break from my career, I’m practicing sports but in the meantime I make sure that I also do my part to help people. There are many people in Pakistan who are doing great work, I’m personally inspired by Shahid Afridi and Imran Khan and I think we should all do our best to serve people in any way we can.”
After Ramadan, he plans to help people on every occasion, be it Eid-ul-Fitr, Adha, or any other tough time. He doesn’t wish to stop it anytime and want people to continue social work to better the nation.
If this foundation keeps on growing, Rumman Raees also has plans to develop the sports sector in Pakistan and open opportunities for youth. Pakistani people including the overseas Pakistanis have come forward as strong support to the foundation and has praised his efforts. The foundation is also open to receiving charity no matter how small it’s.
RRK Foundation has impressed the whole nation and we pray that it continues forever.
I prefer books and diaries more than phones and Facebook. Soulfully connected to Pakistan. And I passionately believe that I can change the world through blogging.
