Snowfall in Karachi is a dream for Karachiites. We never got to witness it in our lives. But today we are going to take you to a place where you can make this dream come true. It’s Pakistan’s first Indoor Ice Park – Winterland Karachi.
Located at PAF Museum, it’s the first of its kind to give winter vibes in scorching summers. Once you visit this place, you will be lured by all the ice-filled activities it provides.
It’s open for adults and children as well following some safety precautions. Also, you don’t need to worry about winter clothing as the jackets and gloves are included in your ticket price.
Coming to the park, it’s all made up of ice. You will see some ice statues, snowmen waiting to welcome you and ice caves as you move ahead.
First, there’s an igloo where you can sit inside and capture some cosy pictures. Then there’s a tunnel which will take you to the beautiful ice sculptures on the left and ice slides on the right. The ice sculptures of Mickey Mouse, Santa Clause, Penguin, Panda etc are best to captivate children’s attention and give them the snowy park vibes.
Then as you move further, you will find a restaurant-kind seating environment in the centre. This particular area is designed on a cafe theme with a reception along. Yes, the ice cafe, you guessed it right.
On moving further you’ll see all the activities you can do at Winterland Karachi such as:
- Ice Slides
Pick the rubber tubes and take ice slides no matter how many times you want. The slide is similar to the one you find at waterparks. The only difference is of the freezing temperature and ice. As the slide end, you will end up in fluffy, softballs enough to stop you in a while.
- Snow Park
If you want to chill at minus 10 degrees centigrades, throwing a handful of snow at your friends and family then this activity is for you. Here you can also take freezing chilled photos under the live snow.
- Merry Snow Round
Go round and round on rubber tubes that are super comfy and best to excite you. You can go round on the snow and enjoy the rides one after another.
- Photo Bumps
Apart from the activities, there are several spots where you can take Instagram-worthy photos and share them on your social accounts. You can even fit in a poster on the ice wall or sit on the snow seat. Pictures worth remembering!
- Ice Cycling
Not for adults but children can also try ice cycling on the snow land.
Apart from all the activities, you can make great memories with your friends or families. It’s a family place and worth visiting once in your lifetime especially if you love snow. Further, there’s also a huge car parking space outside Winterland.
About Winterland Karachi
The park was inaugurated in 2020 to the public. It’s a one-stop destination for snowy fun, food, and festivities. The project is a collaborative effort between Winterland and PAF. Its theme is inspired by the ice malls in China. The idea occurred when Sharjil Saleem, CEO of Winterland visited China and watched ice parks there. He thought of bringing something recreational like this to Karachi as PAF always intends to uplift entertainment in Karachi. On its opening, many celebrities including Aiman Khan, Minal Khan, Hina Bayat, Sunita Marshall, and Yashma Gill visited this place to enjoy its vibes.
And till today, it’s a perfect weekend spot for families and one of the most beautiful places in Karachi. Inside there’s a complete Winterland team who supervise the visitors and make sure everyone remains safe inside.
In addition, COVID SOPs are strictly followed there. The jackets are dry-cleaned and then put to re-use to avoid any infectious diseases. You might find some play activities missing such as car bumper and ice air hockey but still, there’s a lot to explore.
Winterland Tickets
The ticket cost Rs.1500 for individuals. If you’re a family of 4 people you will get a discount of Rs.500.
Winterland Timings
The timings are 3:00 p.m to 12:00 a.m. But for the ticket, you will get a slot of 60 mins and that’s enough to pass your time in a small ice park in Karachi.
Location
PAF Museum (Near gate number 4) Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Things to Keep in Mind Before Visiting
- Wear warm clothes
- Must wear socks and shoes
- Must wear jeans
Most Asked Question: Can I survive in -10’C?
Yes, absolutely you can if you wear warm clothes. But in case of any medical issues, inform the team inside and they will guide you better. The slot is for 1 hour only so you can enjoy and explore the whole park in a short time.
This sums up our Winterland Karachi experience. There were some rides and play activities which were missing such as Bumper cars and Ice Air hockey. Secondly, the park was small. In our opinion, the Winterland team should add more rides for adults and increase the slot timings. But no regrets as the ticket price justifies the experience we had there. We wish to have more recreational spaces like these in Karachi.
Also, we wrapped the whole trip in a video too. You can watch it here:
